OUR BRIEF BUT EVENTFUL HISTORY:

General:

Our Very Very Short Version:
In 2007, what started out as a small showcase for a class project has now become a thriving and emerging film festival in New England.

Liz’s History:
In 2007, with only six weeks of planning, I created and produced the Lights, Camera, Action!, an independent film showcase. It was a showcase of 21 New England independent filmmakers and animators. Seeing the possibility for a yearly festival, I invited participants of Lights, Camera, Action! to organize and produce the next festival. The Nor’easter Independent Film Festival is the next evolutionary step.

Ben’s History:
In the summer of 2007, Benn Robbins asked me if I would like to assist his wife, Liz, with a showcase that she was putting together as a project for a class she was taking. So I thought, "Sure, why not?" and decided to see what it was like on the other end of a film festival. I was brought in as the Submission Coordinator and Technical Consultant for the Lights, Camera, Action! showcase. Within a short amount of time we made the show possible. Afterwards Liz explained to me her thoughts and ideas for the future of the show and asked me to take over as a Festival Director. I considered it for a second and I simply said sure. So with Liz providing a platform, the venue, and interest for the festival, I came in with the new drive, direction, vision, passion, and name for the festival. And the rest, as you know, is now history.
